Born into a respected family of leaders known to have introduced vital reforms and initiated progress in Binalonan, Pangasinan, Ramon “Mon-Mon” V. Guico III continues to steer this town in the right direction as Binalonan’s incumbent mayor with his own brand of pro-active and principled leadership.
Mon-Mon, who is a third-generation Guico, received important lessons on hard work, integrity, and honesty early into his childhood. At a young age, he saw how his late grandfather, Ramon Guico Sr., transformed the poor town of Binalonan into a thriving agricultural center in North Luzon during his 24-year term as the town executive. Meanwhile, his father, Ramon Jr., instituted fiscal stability amidst economic uncertainties in the late1980’s to 2010, through proper revenue allocation. For nineteen years, the older Guico laid the groundwork for progressive change in Binalonan. On a national level, Mon-Mon’s father led the League of Municipalities of the Philippines as president for almost a decade from 2001-2010, where those fiscal reforms for the municipality has been addressed at the national level. In 2007-2010, under Ramon Jr.’s governance, the town made history when it was re-classified from an agricultural, third-class municipality to first class municipality.
Born on March 19, 1975, Mayor Mon-Mon holds a Doctorate degree in Public Management (DPM) from The Ramon Magsaysay School of Government, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila; and a Masters degree in Education from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is also a licensed commercial pilot in airplane and helicopter, a CMAS-certified advanced open water scuba diver, and a staunch advocate of Physicians for Peace. He is married to Maan Tuazon-Guico, with two children - Ramon Ezekiel and Ramon Ethaniel.
