Sometime in 1968 under the administration of Mayor Ramon J. Guico Sr., Binalonan was named Most Beautiful and Cleanest Municipality in the national level with the distinction of having the Most Beautiful Plaza and Parks. With its picturesque landscapes, well-kept parks and spic-and-span streets, Binalonan was a source of pride for the whole of Pangasinan and an inspiration to all municipalities across the country.
Since then, the municipality of Binalonan has revisited efforts to preserve the natural assets of the town, enhance its surroundings and maintain its cleanliness and eco-friendliness. Aligned with its ongoing Clean and Green initiative is the establishment of a Garden Municipality headed by the Guico administration including the preservation of centuries-old acacia trees that drape the entire municipality complex in green and quaint tree houses that have become one of the town’s curious attractions over the years.
Programs encouraging all government sectors, barangays and schools of the town to “reduce, reuse and recycle” as well as proper waste segregation are likewise being intensely promoted with Mayor Mon-Mon’s “Aksyon Dalus” Program. It was during his term that the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where these segregated wastes will be processed, was established.
Meanwhile, the iconic Rock Garden will be improved by Mayor Mon-Mon to include modern internet and dining establishments, and making the area a wifi hotspot, as he did the now famous Binalonan Public Auditorium last 2012.
